Me as a Brand - independent ebook author Alex Clermont

Bio

Alex Clermont is a copywriter and creative writer born and raised in New York City. As a music journalist he’s written for a dozen outlets including Beyond Race Magazine, AllHipHop.com, Stagebuddy and Plateau (where he was also the managing editor).

Alex’s short stories have been published in several literary journals and anthologies including The Bodega Monthly, Black Elephant, The aois21 Annual, Every Second Sunday, Foliate Oak and Out of Place.

He’s the author of “Eating Kimchi & Nodding politely,” a collection of creatively written narratives about his time as an English teacher in South Korea. He’s also the author of the literary short story romance, “Missing Rib.”

“Here’s a bit of biographical minutiae: When I was eight years old my now-dead brother, Joesly, told me a joke that almost killed me. I fell off my seat from the uncontrollable belly laughter, convulsed on the floor for a minute straight and almost blacked out from lack of oxygen. I laugh a lot. I smile a lot. Life is good, even when it’s not… That rhyme was by accident.”

  1. Aww, go ahead and say “I.” It’s good for the soul!
I look forward to reading your book: good title.. Just joined GoodReads; notice you’re there too. I’ll have to try to “friend” you if I can figure out how.
I’m also trying to whip my book on Korea (“Korea, Are You at Peace?”) into shape. I’d like to get a mainstream publisher for it, but if I have no luck by next year, I’ll probably go with self-publishing.
    All the best!

Hey there, I’m a British-Chinese journalist based in Beijing with a big interest in Korea. Hope to check out your book sometime. I am really hoping to gain insights into Korea, and to find good journalistic stories in the country. When I do make it over there sometime, hope to touch base!

Hey Lu-Hai. Sorry for the late reply. I’m usually pretty on top of comments, though I’ve been slacking in the last few months. Firstly, thanks so much for purchasing my book. You have no idea how much that means. it also means a lot that you’ve visited my page to comment.

I hope being a British-Chinese journalist based in Beijing is as fun as it sounds. Asia, in general, (well, the parts I’ve been in) was just fantastic. I loved my time in South Korea and I hope that you get to have as much fun there as I did. Not sure my book does much in the way of giving great insight into the culture (it’s a sort of mix of travelogue and memoir) but if you find it entertaining in any way let me know! Thanks again for the comment : )
